Wilden Village Fete Day

For the past 30 years, Wilden has held a fete on May Day (1 st Monday) to have fun, games, lots to eat and drink—and to have a good time. All the profits made from the day are shared equally between the Village Lower School, St Nicholas Parish Church and the Village Hall. This year we celebrated the 30 th anniversary of the first May Day and it was a great success. We had the Bedford Pipe band, Irish Dancers and “The Great Gappo” children’s entertainer, plus the usual stalls etc.

A new feature this year was a Community Marquee in which, on display and manned, were stalls from Wilden Neighbourhood Watch, The Church, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows, the “Women of Wilden” (WOW) Group and a new group called “The Wilden Village Plan Committee”.

The photo shows Alan Morton, Wilden NHW Area Coordinator, having a welcome cup of tea break on what was a great afternoon. Lots of people took NHW material, especially children, so our message is getting across, not only in Wilden but to all the people visiting our May Day Fete from all over Bedfordshire. A truly wonderful day out!
